Nicecast

Setting up NiceCast to stream on a shoutcast server is relatively simple.  Just follow the follow basic instructions:

If you haven't done so, please download NiceCast by clicking here.

Setting up Your Stream/Server

1. Launch Nicecast and iTunes

2. To select a stream from the Nicecast menu select “Window”, then “Show Server” (or press command 2).

3. To add a stream from the “Nicecast Server” window press the “+” symbol at the bottom of the server menu. This adds “Untitled Server” to the list.

4. Select the radio button next to the “Untitled Server”, or the server you wish to edit. Make sure you do this prior to entering server information.

5. Name the stream whatever you'd like it to be called. Enter the information from the information you received when your shoutcast server was created.  Be sure to add them in the correct fields.  For simplicity sake, Account should be left blank, and Mount Point should be left blank.  Public URL is usually left unchanged.

6. If the correct radio button is selected close the “Nicecast Server” window

7. In the “Nicecast Broadcast” window select the “Share” button. The information that drops down will match with what you will be broadcasting on. Be aware that sometimes after changing servers you may have to restart Nicecast to get this information to match.

Broadcasting to your server

1. Press the “Start Broadcast” button. Nicecast may need to restart iTunes in order to begin the broadcast. If so, Nicecast will prompt you for this… you will need to select “Quit and Relaunch”

2. When broadcasting, the “State” should say “On Air.” If there are any errors, Nicecast will notify you in this window.

To Voice Over (Talk on Air)

1. From the Nicecast menu select “Window” then “Show Effects”

2. In the “Nicecast Effects” window click one of the “Click here to insert effect” boxes. Then select “4fx Effect” and “VoiceOver”

3. In the “VoiceOver” window you should be able to adjust to your preferences.

4. To do a BASIC voice over press “Start” and pause you iTunes playlist. If you do not pause iTunes you may get echo and/or feedback. To resume music “Stop” the voice over and play iTunes again.
